Studio Rex
What does a desirable future feel like: soft or spikey, shiny or crinkly? And what does an undesirable future look like – what colour or shape is it? How many different futures can we imagine?
Amos Rex, together with the Children and Youth Foundation, has created the Future School art workshop, where you can freely explore what the future looks or feels like.
In Future School, you can build imaginary scenes about the future. How far do you dare to look – a year or a thousand years? Is your future a utopia, a dystopia, or something in between? You decide the genre, the main character and the situation.
We invite you to join us on an exploration of alternative futures and strengthen your ability to imagine better ones. The workshop is particularly suitable for ages 13 and up, so now is a good time to bring your teenager to the museum to think about their own ideas for the future. Big and even quite small choices in life shape the future, but it is also affected by creativity, i.e. the ability to imagine and try out new things.
Futures School timeline
Studio Rex’s timeline workshop allows you to unleash your imagination and complete future scenarios. What would have to happen to have the first art museum open in space in 3024? And what on earth has happened as Amos Rex continues to sink deeper underground in 2224? Some of the events you may be able to describe, while others can be described in a different, more open way.
