Schedule:
Monday 10 August 5 pm
Ilmaa! is based on the DanceWorks Helsinki production AIR – An Evening of Two Contemporary Ballet Works, which was performed at the Alexander Theatre in September 2025. The choreographers of the works were Minna Tervamäki and Anu Sistonen. The shared theme of the pieces focused attention on a fundamental element of life: air — how it exists everywhere, how it supports and moves humans and other living beings. Dance often strives for lightness and the sensation of flying, at times surrendering to gravity, breathing with it and playing alongside it.
Ilmaa! consists of selected scenes adapted for an outdoor performance, emphasizing the influence of wind, weather, and other site-specific elements on movement and dance.
