Ark Rex – Architecture Film Festival
Utopias, dreams and future challenges
25–28 November 2021
The Museum of Finnish Architecture & Bio Rex – Amos Rex, Helsinki

Ark Rex – Architecture Film Festival is arranged on the final weekend of November on 25–28 November 2021. The main theme of this year’s event hosted by the Museum of Finnish Architecture and Amos Rex is Utopias, dreams and future challenges, with a leading side theme of wood architecture.

The festival programme delves into ideals, dreams and goals of the past and future, and how they have influenced our thinking, environment and architecture in practice. The history, current state and possible futures of utopias are constructed from the perspectives of architecture, films, literature, philosophy, economics and building technology.

The Ark Rex festival ticket gives access to the diverse programme at the Bio Rex cinema, including architecture films and presentations and introductions by both domestic and international experts. Film screenings and presentations take place on Friday and Saturday.

The festival ticket provides entry to the Museum of Finnish Architecture’s Hope from Wood exhibition during 25–28 November 2021. The ticket also entitles visitors to Finnish and English guided tours at the Museum of Finnish Architecture on Saturday. On Sunday, the museum hosts a workshop around the festival themes and the utopia literature discussion event. Both events on Sundays are accessible with the festival ticket.

Free activities are also included in the festival programme. The Ark Rex pre-session on Thursday, 25 November 2021 features the lecture Utopias in Architecture.
