Courtship is a playful performance exploring the liberating energy of Punking. The choreography weaves together parade walks, intricate arm dances, communicative grooves, fabulous looks and powerful music, creating imaginary courtship rituals. The performance closes with an invitation to join the dance floor and share the love.

The Punking Diaries collective
The Punking Diaries collective, created in 2024, consists of a group of diverse dancers that share a love for Punking and Whacking dance cultures and the wish to explore them through event making, performances and community-building practices. Punking, created by a group of bipoc gay men in the 70s, turns stigmas into powerful performances. Whacking is a dance style inspired by one of its elements.
Ira Wuolle
Ira Wuolle is a dancer and choreographer based in Helsinki, who’s background is rooted in breaking and punking/whacking, lately also in ballroom culture. All these different cultures and communities influence her works, bringing people, questions, stories, and dances to the stage. Her artistic methods can be described as multi-enthusiasm, polyrhythmic curiosity, multidisciplinary tinkering, and a do-it-yourself spirit aiming to create works based on honesty, community, passion and generosity. In addition to dance, she does rap and stage poetry.
Jérémy Gaudibert
Jérémy Gaudibert is a French dancer and designer working across Europe, rooted in underground dance cultures—spaces of expression, resistance, and connection. Jérémy co-created the Punking Diaries collective and is a member of the finnish ballroom scene. Their artistry expands from movement to visual and materials.
Kaisa Nieminen
Kaisa Nieminen is a dancer-choreographer based in Helsinki, Finland. Nieminen is interested in the experiential nature of the dancing body; the emotionality, sexuality, and the way we connect to ourselves, others, and to the societal structures through dancing — the politics and poetics of the dancing body.
Nadja Leham
Nadja Leham is a Espoo born and Helsinki based dance artist. Right now Leham is working with: Character building in dance, hobby horses, access related issues, fantasies and couples dances.“I want to work with story-telling in dance where mystical otherworldly things can happen and learn more about dramaturgy.”
Miika Sibelius
Miika Sibelius is a Helsinki based punker-whacker who roots for cinematographic poses, good-old classic beats and original self-expression through queer underground dances and fashion. Taking part in and contributing to various projects as a member of the Punking Diaries collective, and stoutly walking in the Finnish ballroom scene.
